Rethink: De-branding Cigarette Packs

A move intended to subvert the alluring brands of tobacco giants and make smoking less attractive, London-based consultancy Build created these satirical yet serious visualisations of how a packet of 20's might look if the branding were to be stripped away. The project is entitled "Rethink".

Interesting alternatives to the "Smoking Kills" warnings are included; giving smokers some serious insights into how much time each pack smoked will rob them of, and making a feature of the terrifyingly long list of ingredients that go into each pack.

Control Freak

Sometimes when I'm meeting with people they will tell me that their significant other (or kids) has told them they're a controller (or a control freak). Often they can't believe it - how could they say such a thing? Most people see themselves as caring very much for these people and they can't understand how their loved ones could see them this way. Perhaps you've had these labels applied to you?

When clients share this with me I like to help them to test if they are guilty of controlling or not. First of all, I help define controlling for them:

Controlling - using control behaviors.

Control behaviors - behaviors which are used to influence someone else's decision making, but in a way that does not respect their right to choose their own destiny (or without accepting the person's freedom to say no.) Control behaviors include demanding, angry outbursts, manipulating, guilting, pressuring, nagging, lecturing, bribing to control, silent treatment/withdrawing to control, etc.

Whenever we use these behaviors, not recognizing other people's rights to say no/choose their own actions, we are trying to control them. If we try to get them to change without controlling, it is influencing. People ALWAYS resent control behaviors. It is built into our DNA, we resist other people not respecting our freedom. When we trying to control others we damage our relationships with them, build resentment, and act in an unloving way towards them (control and love cannot go together). Because people make their own choices anyway (even if they feel controlled, they still choose their actions), control is always an illusion. You can't control anyway, so why try?

God doesn't control us . . . because he loves us. Control and love cannot co-exist. You can only control yourself (and that's really tough). We think controlling actions work but they don't. We may have someone go along with us in body, but not in their heart. And of course it's the heart that matters in the long run.

One of my clients has begun using this info on control at work (where he is a supervisor) and it is transforming his life. It's remarkable actually. He's way less stressed (and angry), has won the respect of his co-workers, and is teaching others. He's a recovering controller. Like me! My favorite control behavior to use was manipulation (makes sense coming from a counselor right?) but I've used them all. I pass on this info to others because it was very helpful for me. I'm definitely not perfect, but I'm recovering slowly. How about you?

For a well-established, houses are often used as a reflection kemapanannya, as a form of manifestation of its achievements in life. For a young family, home coveted as a place that symbolized the beginning to live a long life full of struggle in order to achieve happiness.

1. Pot Houses

 

 

Houses teapot is actually a small gas station that was built in 1922. Construction for the satirical scandal 'Teapot Dome' President Harding and federal petroleum reserves in Wyoming. Houses teapot is the oldest gas station in the state and no longer used.

Houses are made dizzy people who see it because it lies upside down in Szymbark, Poland. Created by Daniel Czapiewski to describe the period of communist and current conditions.
6. Cube Houses

Located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, home cube consisting of 32 houses relate to each other. Houses that each kubusnya consists of three floors, was designed by Piet Blom in 1984.
7. Houses Bubbles

Houses are decorated with bubbles is located in Cannes, France. In the early 1980s, renowned fashion designer, Pierre Cardin, buy this unique home for summer vacation. Houses designed by Antti Lovag bubble.

8. Houses Eliphante

The process of making this Eliphante homes take a very long time of 28 years. That's because the couple husband and wife owners, Michael Kahn and Leda Livanti, build it with his own hands. Located in Conrville, Arizona, United States, this house looks like an art gallery because it makes the building remains as a decoration on the walls of the house.
9. Crooked House

Buildings with an area of 4000 square meters is located in the shopping area in Sopot, Poland. Designed by the architect of Polish origin named Szotynscy Zaleski, it became the object of the most frequently photographed in the country of Poland.
10. Piano house

Unique piano-shaped building is located in An Hui Province, China. On the violin is the escalator leading to the building and on the inside there are development plans in the province to attract investors who Ating.

11. Longaberber Basket Company HQ - Newark, Ohio

The building dates back to the dream of Dave Longaberger, founder of The Longaberger Company, to build his office with a big basket design. The idea of the owner of a company that produces wooden baskets was initially ridiculed by everyone, including from the architects, investors and construction companies. But David still realize that dream and on December 17, 1997 the building finally stand up and be one of the famous buildings around the world.
12. Replay's Building

In 1812, an earthquake with a strength of more than 8 SR rocked the New Madrid, Missouri and destroy all the buildings. Well, almost everything. One of the buildings 'congratulations' is a building that was cracked and are now part of the list of unique buildings in the Ripley's Believe It or Not.
13. Dancing House

The design of this building does look very modern and be controversial in its time. But then Czech president, Václav Havel, really liked it and hope that this building will become the center of cultural activity in the future.

Kettle House in Texas, the United States not only looks like a kettle, but also to function properly.

Shoe House

There seems to be a big fan of fairy tale here. Shoes home in Pennsylvania, United States form the shoe in all aspects, except the soles of his shoes.

Stone House

Stone house in Portugal is one of the best examples of natural elements that come in use. It is unique when we see, but the house was really uninhabited.

One of my goals for this year is going to be to get away at least twice to do some reflection and spend time with God. Another goal is going to be to do 2 outdoor adventures. On the 4th and 5th of February it looks like I will be able to do both! I'm planning on getting together with two other guys and going up to Pinawa for some monastic stuff, some hanging out with other guys stuff, and some XC skiing. Good for the soul, good for the body.
